TAN Castle.

A whole-venue buyout on the Ayer Masin waterfront — stilt chalets over the Malacca Strait, built-in KTV, and a jetty out to the kelong.

Why here

Two days on the kelong at Kukup.

Kukup is a Chinese fishing village on the south-west tip of Johor — stilt chalets built over the Strait, floating seafood restaurants, and offshore fish farms at the window. It's the closest place to Singapore that gives eighty people a genuine "somewhere else" feeling in a ninety-minute drive.

TAN Castle holds the whole group under one roof: three floors, its own KTV, and a mangrove river cruise that doubles as the trip's main "experience" layer — so one venue covers accommodation, food, evening entertainment and half the programme.

"Ninety minutes from Singapore, and unmistakably somewhere else."

Worth knowing

What could go wrong, and the fallback.

November monsoon

Kukup faces the sheltered Malacca Strait, calmer than the east coast, but afternoon storms are likely. KTV and covered BBQ are the wet-weather fallback.

Checkpoint jams

Tuas can back up on weekends and holiday eves. Cross early, and pad the return so a slow queue doesn't blow up the schedule.

Halal & vegetarian

Confirm the specific kitchen at booking — not every over-water restaurant is halal-certified. Pre-order the veg menu, reconfirm 3 days out.
